Chiang Dao

About

419 is a farm-garden café in the fields of Mueang Ngai, at the northern end of Chiang Dao, with mountains all around. The cakes are the real draw (banoffee, lemon cheesecake, coconut tart and carrot cake all get named), but the animals are what kids remember: goats, geese, chickens, rabbits and parrots in roomy, tidy pens, plus a pond and garden. It keeps short, odd hours and gets busy around Sunday lunchtime, so I'd plan a weekend morning visit and pair it with the rest of Chiang Dao.
