About
Doi Kham is the hilltop temple south-west of town with the huge white seated Buddha you can see from the Mae Hia side, about 17 m tall. It's a busy local pilgrimage spot rather than a tourist stop, and the draw for most Thai visitors is a small gilded image, Luang Pho Than Jai, where people make a wish and promise jasmine garlands if it comes true. The banner asks for 50 garlands or more, which explains the cones of jasmine stacked around the shrine. From the terrace you look out over the city, the airport and Doi Suthep. Royal Park Rajapruek is next door, so the two make an easy half-day.
