Giant rain tree in Mae Ngat reservoir

Mae Taeng

About

This is the giant rain tree, ton chamcha, standing out in the water of the Mae Ngat Somboon Chon reservoir, said to be over a hundred years old. You can only reach it by boat, from piers on the Sri Lanna National Park side near the dam or on the Phrao side, about an hour and a half from the city. It's best from November to January, when the water is high and there's often morning mist. Life jackets are required, and please take your rubbish back with you.
