About
Baan Kang Wat is a small artists' village beside Wat Ram Poeng, on the Suthep side of town, started by ceramic artist Nattawut 'Big' Ruckprasit. It's a small compound of resident studios, craft shops and cafés set around a communal amphitheatre, and the point is to slow down: browse, have a coffee, maybe sign up for a workshop. Classes have included pottery, painting, candle-making, jewellery, bookbinding, woodcut printing and cooking. It's most lively at the Sunday morning market, when extra stalls set up. On other days it's quiet and easy to combine with Wat Umong nearby.
